CLC offers programs for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade, for college students, and for adults who wish to improve their basic skills.
Our teachers have special expertise assisting students with:
- Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities
- Executive Functioning Difficulties
Other students may need academic help because they learn at a different pace, have learning style differences, or have missed instruction due to illness or change of school. We further work with students who need to refine their writing skills, learn strategies for standardized test taking, or master note-taking skills.
Tutoring is available in reading, writing, math, exam preparation, academic support, and study skills. Commonwealth Learning Center is accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.
Our Instructional Programs
We design each student’s instructional program to ensure success.
All of our teaching is one-to-one using a customized plan to meet the needs of each student. We implement multisensory strategies and direct, sequential instruction. Our highly skilled teachers continually adjust the teaching style to suit the learner’s needs. We continuously seek out proven programs for students who struggle to learn from traditional curriculum materials.
Our Testing and Diagnostic Program
We believe that an educational evaluation is an important first step in addressing reading and other learning difficulties. The Commonwealth Learning Center offers diagnostic assessments in reading, phonological skills, spelling, written expression, and mathematics. The Center Director administers appropriate testing instruments, writes an evaluation report, and meets with the student’s parent or guardian to discuss results and to make specific educational recommendations.
Our learning centers are conveniently located in Needham and Danvers.
